Natural Attractions
Natural forests occupy a large part of the community. The great attractions are the landscape parks and nature reserves, widely available through the tourist paths.Here you can find many species of plants and animals threatened by extinction.
Sobibor Landscape Park (total area 11 166 ha) - a species characteristic for the park is the mud turtle but here also live: wolves, elks, wild boars and beavers, white-tailed eagles, lesser spotted eagles, cranes, grouse, mute swans, flycatchers, travelers, whiteriged woodpeckers, black storks, herons, common goldeneyes and many others. In the park grows three species of insectivorous sundews, pedicularis sceptrum carolium, Lithuanian catchfly , low birch, Lapland willow, swamp willow and many others.
Biosphere Reserve "Western Polesie" - in 2002 the area gained a broadcast staus of Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Located on the border of Poland, Ukraine and Belarus. On the Polish side the most valuable natural areas of Łęczyńsko – Włodawskie Lakeland belong to the reserve. Biosphere Reserve connects a lot of protected areas: Polesie National Park, Nature Park, Łęczna Lakeland Park, Polsie Landscape Park, Polish Landscape Park, Polesie Protected Landscape Area.
Within the Gmina Wlodawa there are many unique protected natural objects, the most interesting include:
"Skarpa Nadbużańska" (over about 78 ha) on its territory there is protected marsh and oxbow lakes with the rushes and scrub and water reservoirs. There is also a few rare species such as aloe and sedge on its territory .
"Krzemianka Valley" (over about 57 hectares) the aim of this object is to protect wetlands and oxbow lakes of scrub vegetation, and water rush.
"Tarasienka Valley " (over about 71 ha) wetlands are protected in this area. Here you can find, among others yellow water lily.
Within the Wlodawa community there are many nature monuments. These are mostly boulders and trees (mainly lime trees, oaks and ash trees). These objects are often a part of the park near the former mansions and palace complexes. The most important are
